So, I’m cleaning my Glock and drinking wine. I shot it awhile ago for first time since probably 2012. One of my favorite things about this is the fact that it's really easy to take apart.

Mmm I can smell the Hoppes now.

Glad to see the ammo is out of sight.
Better hide it all before you upset the ninnies though.

All I can smell is nitro solution and oil, straight through the screen.

Nice. I forgot the types of guns we have here, I think one is an S&W and the other a Springfield. Forgot the exact names though. Be careful with that wine though ;)

I have the XD-S with near identical tear down. It’s so easy to clean.

Always have a loaded gun to hand though. Wouldn’t want to be caught out.

Yeah, I don’t need to shoot anything tonight, especially myself. I left the empty magazine from the range in it. The loaded ones were in a separate room.

Good policy. Happy to see safe handling and cleaning practices at play, especially if there's hooch within reach. A+

My general policy is to take the magazine out before handling any firearm. You can't fire a gun if it's got no bullets in it.

Just don't forget about that extra one in the chamber. Lol

I don’t ever leave one in the chamber. That way if i ever actually need to use one of my handguns , I know I have to rack a round into it.

Being a Glock, I can’t say as I blame you. Great firearms, but I am not a fan of their “this little pin in the middle of the trigger is your safety” philosophy.
For target shooting and home defense, aok. For exposed carry in a hard-sided glock holster (or similar), cool... but for a concealed carry piece I’d have concerns. Mostly because I’d prefer that one extra round be chambered, should the shit hit the fan, and considering a Glock is always cocked if a round is chambered it would make me uneasy knowing something could potentially work it’s way inside that trigger guard while I’m doing m y day to day thing and... Well. Yeah.
Of course, being in Canada that’s not really a concern for me as the only people walking around armed as such are the cops and criminals. Being neither myself, I’m not allowed to pack whilst out and about.
Nice piece though.

I’ve also got an HK USP compact; that has a real safety. I also leave that unloaded, just for consistency. I like it a lot, probably more than my Glock. I need to get a carry permit.
Probably can't tell, but my Glock has a serial number that starts with A. It's a gen 2. My grandfather bought it new and gave it to me, years later.

Consistency is good and important, so I can’t blame you. Hopefully you’re never in a situation where you’ll need it period, or where that extra second to chamber a round would be important.
Plus, the sound of racking that slide is a great motivator to leave you be.
Also, heirloom firearms are the best. Family history courses through ones veins every time you see or hold it.

There used to be (maybe still is) a gadget that you could buy that would clip behind the Glock trigger creating an ersatz safety. To disengage it, you’d press it and it would pop out onto the ground. Search for Saf-T-Blok.

I like my glock, but yeah storing unloaded is my policy.

You have to pull the trigger to take down a Glock. Only a moron would have a loaded mag while taking a Glock apart.

Yeah, lest one of those Mooslims sneaks up on you. Nothing goes together better than paranoid people, alcohol and firearms. (Not implying the OP is a paranoid islamaphobe).
